What if I can't do it?
Many people have seen the CrossFit Games on tv or have heard how CrossFit is the most intense workout they've ever seen. Well, it is an intense workout. However, we can scale back all the workouts we do by lowering the reps, reducing the weight, decreasing the time performing the exercise or simply be modifying part of the individual exercises in the workout to allow athletes of all levels the opportunity to do the workout. Just because you can't do a pull up doesn't mean you sit and watch. You do excersises that will help get stronger and develop the ability to do a a pull up.
How much does it cost?
A lot. But it's damn sure worth it. Our membership rates are simple:
*We also offer give a 10% discount for all Military, Law Enforcement, and First Responders.
All of these prices allow you to come to any of our Group WOD's (Workout Of the Day) following your completion of our initial 4 week Fundamentals program. We are open 6 days a week in which you'll have opportunities to workout with a group and a coach running the WOD who is there to teach and coach as you go. No need to pay $40/hour or more for a personal trainer. We are all inclusive! Gym membership, personal training, fully coached group workouts!
What is a WOD?
WOD is an acronym for "Workout of the Day". The main site (www.crossfit.com) publishes a WOD everyday. (So do we. Click here.) Most Gyms don't follow that verbatim. They will use their own WOD and but will often include the WOD from the main site as well.
I heard crossfit is a cult.
Actually we like to think of crossfit of more of a family of like minded, motivated people who support each other in the pursuit of achieving their fitness goals and becoming stronger and more fit. Think of the crossfit community as a group of like minded individuals working together in a common pursuit of excellence in strength and conditioning.
I've heard that crossfit can cause injuries. Is this true?
Of course it's true. Anything you do in life can hurt you, especially if you are doing it wrong. At CrossFit Juneau we will have a coach at every session teaching, reviewing, and correcting technique and working to improve efficiency and reduce your risk of injury. With that said, athletes get injuries. It's just natural. Weightlifters get strains, runners get sprains and pulls, Football players and wrestlers get injuries to their joints and people who are not active and don't do any activity will have high blood pressure, diabetes and obesity. Pick your poison folks!
In Addition, crossfit training will make you stronger, healthier and more durable. Overall, this will decrease you chance of getting sick or injured while allowing you to perform a much broader range of activities.
I'm a girl; will I get too bulky doing CrossFit?
Following a crossfit regimen will make you much stronger, but will take years of training and a shift in focus to develop size. If you are looking to get stronger, leaner, and to look better don't worry. CrossFit will be your ticket.
